Large Bohemia Czech Art Nouveau Amphora Majolica vase with Bird Motif 46 cm
€550,00
A large and highly decorative Art Nouveau majolica vase made by Amphora-Werke Riessner in Trnovany, Bohemia, around 1920. The rounded body is richly decorated with raised, polychrome enamel motifs. One side features a large, colourful parrot surrounded by stylised flowers, leaves and geometric ornamentation. The reverse continues the floral and geometric design in deep blue, green, red, white, pink and light blue tones. The upper and lower sections are finished with a distinctive light-brown textured glaze resembling a finely hammered surface. The bold colours, relief decoration and unusual composition make this a striking example of early 20th-century Bohemian Art Nouveau ceramics. The underside bears a blue oval stamp reading: “AMPHORA – Made in Czecho-Slovakia” Pattern number: 18091
